Students from Garcia ECHS, Cigarroa, Martin, and Nixon High Schools were recognized today for being selected to participate in the prestigious Kazen Fellowship Program.
A total of 13 students were honored and will benefit from unique learning experiences that support their academic and professional growth. The event was attended by LISD Board members, district leaders, and members of the legal community, including federal judges and attorneys.

The Parent & Family Engagement Department hosted this month’s Parent Academy of Learning (PAL) session, welcoming representatives from the Consulate General of Mexico in Laredo to connect with LISD families.
Held at the LISD Performing Arts Center (PAC) Nelson Conference Center, the session provided parents with valuable information on consular services and community resources. Consul Alicia Luna Arredondo, Consul Alicia Palacios Camacho (Documentation), and Consul Horacio Munguía (Protection) were present to engage with families and answer questions.

The LISD Special Education Department held it’s Champions Awards Ceremony recognizing special education students from Martin, Nixon, and Cigarroa High Schools.
The students, who are part of the district’s self-contained units, were honored for exceling in the classroom by being responsible, having good attendance, and being eager to learn.

Culinary Arts students from LISD high schools put their skills to the test in an exciting Iron Chef-style competition, preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for judges and guests.
From creativity to presentation, each dish showcased the incredible talent and passion of these future chefs—giving attendees a chance to taste excellence firsthand.
