The Webb County Community Coalition (WCCC) of SCAN recognizes those individuals in the community who have made an outstanding contribution to the field of drug prevention, intervention, treatment, and/or aftercare during the past year.
Each year, the Webb County Community Coalition (WCCC) of SCAN presents this award to an individual who works in the field of drug prevention, intervention, or treatment as a paid employee of an agency, business, or organization.
Cindy Lopez, LCDC is a Substance Abuse Coordinator at the Laredo Independent School District. She was previously a counselor at SCAN and has helped many individuals suffering from substance abuse. She actively collaborates with SCAN Drug Prevention Programs so they can provide services at campuses throughout the Laredo Independent School District. She regularly attends several SCAN community meetings

Tonight the LISD Board of Trustees appointed Guillermo Pro as interim superintendent starting July 18, 2025. Pro previously served as principal at Martin High School and is currently LISD's Director of Fine Arts. Pro will serve as interim superintendent while the LISD Board of Trustees conducts its formal search for the District's next permanent superintendent. The current superintendent, Dr. Sylvia G. Rios, is retiring after serving LISD as superintendent for eight years.
