LISD Board Member Alfredo Perez joins Laredo City Councilman Albert Torres, Mayor Victor Trevino, and City Councilman-elect Rick Garza as they delivered Christmas presents to Early Childhood students at Ryan, Milton, Alma Pierce, Sanchez-Ochoa, Tarver and Gallego Elementary School. Mr. Perez, Mr. Torres, Dr. Trevino, and Mr. Garza were joined by Santa Claus and the Grinch who pulled up to the schools in the Z93 Sleigh as the students cheered and waved. Each class took a picture with Santa Claus and the Grinch and each student was presented with a Christmas gift.
Christmas came early for one little Alma Pierce Elementary School student this morning. U.S. Army Sergeant Eric Cedillo, who has been deployed in South Korea for the past 11 months, surprised his daughter, Adelina Cedillo, in her pre-k class after returning home for the holidays. Sergeant Cedillo, who heard from Santa Claus, that his daughters’ classmates have been good all year long brought along a present for each student. He even took time and sat down and played games with the kids.
LISD is spreading holiday cheer far and wide! Martin High School's 7th Annual Tigerland Toy Drive was a roaring success! Thanks to the hard work of the Tiger Elves and the incredible support from our community, over 1,500 toys were delivered to children across feeder schools.

Hello LISD Parents and Families,
As the holiday season approaches, we want to remind you how crucial school attendance is to your child’s academic success. Understandably, this time of year can be busy, but we want to urge you to remember how missed school days around the holidays can impact your child’s progress from kindergarten through high school.
We know that family time is precious and essential, but it’s important to remember that extended vacations can the send the wrong message about the importance of regular attendance.
So, please ensure your child is present until the winter break begins and returns to school on the scheduled dates. We greatly appreciate your support in this matter.
Happy Holidays!
